Maybe Valyrians are just better at it! Maybe it's in their blood! No matter what the reason for sexy incestuous babies of sexy incest loving dragon-riders, let's be clear: whoever sits on the iron throne should probably not have a very high inbreeding coefficient.I haven’t read the books either so i don’t know which crheactars become or remain important. Then again, fans also think Aerys' madness might be down to Bran becoming a time traveller, so it might be we will learn there are absolutely no ramifications for incest in this series, unless you're a villain, in which case it's disgusting and vile. But Daenerys is also, notably, not particularly crazy. King Aerys’s madness is suggested to be down, in part, to his bloodline, sure. Yet Emilia Clarke is playing the current clan survivor, so its clear that Westeros – while anti-incest – is not particularly interested in suggesting good people will look bad just because their relatives couldn’t keep it in their pants. Proof that, if Dany was to schtup her nephew, the baby that brings their world together will probably have health problems from day dot, an inability to lead with cogency and intellect and will be almost unable to speak due to their astonishing deformed features.
Absolutely nothing about this scene, in retrospect, feels worth it – even for Kit Harington’s lovely heinie (which we had, it’s worth saying, seen plenty of by this point). It also, let’s be honest, was only there as a blunt strike to the head to make us understand exactly what Bran and Sam were saying about Jon’s parentage: an exclamation mark when a full stop would have sufficed. This is all to say: the boat sex between aunt Daenerys and her nephew wasn’t sexy, was deeply weird and didn’t give us any sense that this couple mattered. well, it was inevitable, but it wasn’t much else. “You love each other,” characters kept telling us, without much evidence to back it up.
But Daenerys and Jon’s relationship was actually very flaccid in the series and we really only got to see the big, dramatic bits rather than anything that gave us a sense these two people had any real affection for each other. At the end of series seven, Daenerys and Jon’s boat sex felt like the biggest moment, something we’d all been waiting for, and the cementing of a couple that would change the show.
